It is time to clean out gardens, plant bulbs, clean your decorative birdhouse, split perennials, wash the wood outdoor furniture and more.
You can start by getting one of the best Garden Monthly To Do Calendars which are available at the Weekend Gardener site.
You can print out the calendar for the month and put on your refrigerator.
This site also has incredible amount of information, links, and resources about gardening. It is always the first site I check when I am researching anything about my garden. In addition they have a free monthly web magizine that I enjoy getting.
This is not my favorite time of year in my garden. I have a large garden and the amount of Fall cleanup, and planting is a lot of work. I have found over the years that I put my mulch down in the Fall. This gives my flower beds a cleaner look over the winter. Then when it comes to spring planting I usually do not need to mulch much because I still have a good base from what I put down in the fall.
In addition, this is a good time of year to find garden accessories & furniture on sale. Whether you want to add a new fire pit to your outdoor space, new cushions for your wood outdoor furniture or replace an old decorative birdhouse. What do they always say? "When the work is done it is time to go shopping!!!!!!!!!"
I am currently replanting my porch flower containers with fall hardy plants. Watch for my next posting on that.
